10 unpopular opinions on games, according to Reddit
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Kirby series and as well as Kirby and the Forgotten Land being a hit with gamers and critics earlier this year, it will also be hosting its own music festival later this summer. And with Nintendo Switch Online hosting classics Kirby titles, fans have plenty of reasons to celebrate the adorable pink sphere.
But while fans have a lot of love for Kirby and its games, not everyone shares the same feelings and has voiced their own opinions which may seem unpopular. From specific copy abilities to underrated entries, these are just a few unpopular opinions expressed on Reddit.
ten Hammer capacity is overrated
Debut alongside other abilities in Kirby’s adventure on the NES in 1993, the hammer ability remained one of the most familiar power-ups throughout the Kirby series. No matter which Kirby game fans played, they would have undoubtedly used it on more than one occasion to crush their opponents.
But according to Redditor BioLuminescentSpirit, they’ve shown that they don’t really like that particular recurring ability. They thought “Hammer is overrated” and while it didn’t spark huge outrage in the comments section, it also prompted others to share their least favorite abilities from the show.
9 Amazing Mirror needs a remake
It may not be the most famous game of the Kirby series by fans, but tried to introduce new gameplay mechanics and features to the series in 2004. It was the first entry in the series to use co-op multiplayer and the gameplay style was similar to Metroidvania titles by compared to its traditional platform adventures. And those mechanics were enough to see it as one of the highest-ranked Kirby games on Metacritic, though some fans still think the game is overrated.
Some of the comments showed that they thought Kirby and the Incredible Mirror was not the best game in the entire series and favored other titles. But TheSauceGod92 was a fan of the game and thought it “should be the next game they should do again” and with the popularity of Metroid Dread on the Nintendo Switch, maybe a throwback to that Metroidvania Kirby gambling might not be the worst idea.
8 Dark Nebula Should Return
Released on DS in 2006, Kirby: Squeak Squad (Where Kirby: mouse attack) introduced a new group of enemies called the Squeaks, a group of thieving rodents led by the caped magician Daroach. And yet, he and his minions would not end up as the decisive final boss. That honor went to Dark Nebula, an evil black star who was accidentally released during Kirby’s quest for his stolen piece of cake.
As shared in the comments section of NoAltBruh, Protopinch thinks “Dark Nebula should be in future games”. Although the character’s simple design may be why he wasn’t as memorable as King Dedede or Meta Knight. While the character has appeared in other games as collectibles, this strange but menacing menace has yet to return.
seven Planet Robobot was a bad game
There are many Nintendo 3DS games that have become some of the best that everyone should try. Kirby: Planet Robobot was released on 3DS in 2016 and to this day many still praise the game, even though it didn’t quite reach the top spot on everyone’s 3DS games list. However, it currently holds a score of 81 on the Metacritic website.
One comment stood out from NoAltBruh’s post. BeanyTA thought that among the “main games, Planet Robobot is by far the worst.” It seems that even Kirby in an adorable mech can’t convince everyone to appreciate this unique entry and is definitely one of the most unpopular opinions seen on Reddit.
6 Squeak Squad was a great game
Returning to Squeak Squad on DS, it remained one of the games that received average ratings and reviews upon release. Several publications have scored the game with average ratings and Metacritic currently scores the game with 71.
But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have his small group of fans, as noted in Redditor Dream Course’s comments section on his post. Pomtron believes that “Squeak Squad is an amazing game that deserves way more praise for all the things it bought from the show and bought back from the show. to offer.
5 Kirby’s epic thread was lovely
Originally released for Wii in 2010 before being ported to 3DS in 2019, Kirby’s Epic Yarn was definitely one of the most visually unique games on consoles. But some fans disagreed with its charms and easy gameplay.
While some players have expressed their reasons for not liking the game, such as its lack of difficulty, mrolivine commented this on the Dream Course post. “epic yarn is one of the best Kirby Games. There’s way too much hate for this for no reason.” It seems like not everyone can come together on this particular title, but at least Nintendo has given it a second chance in the handheld market.
4 Kirby is better than Mario
Considered one of the greatest video game companies of all time, Nintendo has created a number of franchises and characters that have stood the test of time. And while Super Mario became the company’s mascot and starred in some of the greatest games of all time, some believe Kirby deserves the same level of love.
In a note from Flashman512they thought Kirby was way better than Mario for many reasons, from comparing their games to who was the most overpowered fighter in Super Smash Bros. Kirby was “one of my favorite characters to fight with” in the Super Smash Bros. games and they believe his games are “all different and unique”. Whereas Kirby is popular, arguably it doesn’t quite match Mario in fan numbers and many would defend the plumber against this Redditor’s comment.
3 Kirby 64 was unique
Kirby’s first foray into the 3D landscape saw critics in 2000 feeling mixed about Kirby Chapter 64: Crystal Shards. From the lack of difficulty to the short story mode, the game today holds a score of 77 on Metacritic based on reviews and scores at the time and years later.
According Trench Coat_Squirrelwho commented on Flasman512’s post, “Kirby 64 was also a unique game from what I remember.” This particular 64 game might not have been considered one of the best when it was released, but it tried to bring something new in 3D space in 2000.
2 The parasol was a large capacity
Another ability that was introduced in Kirby’s adventure on the NES, the Parasol ability was used to hit enemies while seeing Kirby slowly float as he fell from platforms. The ability has grown over time to become more useful, including the ability to shield you and your allies from water rushes and falling rocks.
But being left out in some entries, including the recent Kirby and the Forgotten Land on the Nintendo Switch, some fans still love this weird ability. This included [deleted] who thought “Parasol is one of my favorite abilities”, but agreed that they “didn’t see much love for it”. While many love the sword and fire abilities, at least Parasol saw some love as one of the abilities Redditors wanted to see in Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
1 Bandana Dee is overrated
In [deleted], many fans have shared their unpopular opinions on the characters and games of the Kirby series. Among them was Iko_Matt0rrwho shared a detailed list of their own thoughts, one of which was about Bandana Dee.
“I don’t like Bandana Dee, I see him as a cheap character, like a recolor, and I think his role should have been played by other characters instead.” Become a playable character first in Kirby’s Return to Dreamland on the Wii in 2011, why a particular Waddle Dee became a placeholder for multiplayer carnage remains a mystery.
