Nintendo is skipping Gamescom this year
After several years of all-digital events, Gamescom is set to return as a hybrid in-person/digital convention in August. The gaming convention is usually one of the largest in the world, but it looks like this year’s show won’t feature an appearance from Nintendo. Nintendo of Europe recently confirmed to a German outlet Games Wirtschaff (Translated by clearance bolt) that he will not participate. The company didn’t provide a specific reason for the move, but said upcoming Nintendo Switch games will appear at other events across Germany this year.
“Gamescom is a key event in Nintendo’s events calendar. This year, however, after careful consideration, we have decided not to attend Cologne. Instead, players can try out games for Nintendo Switch at numerous events throughout Germany,” the statement read. bed.
Nintendo has several great first-party games slated for release throughout the year, including Mario Strikers: Battle League, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, live alive, Splaton 3and Pokemon scarlet and violet. The company usually holds a Nintendo Direct presentation during E3 to reveal its plans for the rest of the year, but E3 was canceled this year. Nintendo made no announcements about a potential presentation this month, leaving fans curious about the rest of the company’s plans for 2022.
Hopefully Nintendo won’t keep fans waiting long for more information! Bayonet 3 and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope were both previously confirmed to release this year, but no information has been given on either game for some time. Following The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was supposed to be released this year, but was recently delayed. This has led to rumors that Switch may be getting a different take on Zelda, like the long-awaited HD remasters of Twilight Princess and The awakening of the wind. This year also marks the 20th anniversary of Metroid Prime, and there have been several rumors of an HD remaster of this game as well. Hopefully Nintendo won’t make fans wait too long to find out the company’s plans for the rest of the year!
